You will be enchanted by this private tour to the charming and picturesque medieval town of Gruyères, the most beautiful town in Western Switzerland. The town has given its name to the area and to its delicious cheese. Explore the small town that has been unaffected by the passage of time since the middle ages, built in a superb setting in the Fribourg Alps. Visit one of the most beautiful medieval castles in Switzerland, a walk through 8 centuries.
Learn all about the secrets of Swiss cheese and chocolate during a visit to both factories nearby, and, of course, more importantly, enjoy tasting them!
Lunch will be on your own, a chance to enjoy the best cheese Fondue or Raclette in Switzerland, amongst other local specialities.

ITINERARY

We will leave Montreux by train or private limousine/minibus and driver to go first to the Cailler Chocolate factory in Broc to discover and taste authentic Swiss chocolate. After this, we will drive 10 minutes or take the train and bus up to the charming medieval town of Gruyères, where you can either enjoy a vist to the fascinating 12th century castle or time to shop in the numerous souvenir shops and taste the best cheese fondue in Switzerland (amongst other regional specialities). In the afternoon, we will go to the cheese factory nearby and learn all about how Gruyères cheese is made, and, of course, taste 3 differently aged cheeses before returning to Montreux.

Meeting location: The tour will start from your hotel in Montreux where I will meet you.

End location: The tour will end at your hotel in Montreux unless you would prefer otherwise.

We can either travel by 1st or 2nd class public train transport, or private, luxury,air-conditioned limousine - Mercedes S 4matic or private, luxury, air-conditioned minibus - VIP Mercedes 16 seater.(Please see prices above).
Some walking is involved as Gruyères is a car-free town.
